Email: jbcgraham@live.com OBJECTIVE
Seeking a position as a
Telecommunications Technician/Installer PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE SUMMARY · 20+ years
of installing information technology systems · I am a
member of BICSI, FOA certified, and I currently hold a Secret level security
clearance. · I have
extensive experience with the proper cabling installation procedures used to
install the various types of cables · 10+ years
of splicing experience, with both copper and fiber optics. · I take
pride in each job that I am given and ensure that each installation is
completed to industry standards. Along with my attention to detail, ability
to stay focused, and having a great deal of discipline and integrity, I hope
that you will consider me for this position. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AUG 2012-OCT 2014 Rockwell Collins/DataPath ISP/OSP Field Service Representative-Afghanistan · Working
with the United States Marine Corps, my job is to install and maintain the
fiber optic communications network that has been placed throughout the base. · Because of
the drawdown that is in progress, my job has gone from installing new fiber
optic cabling, to more of a maintenance position, making sure that the
existing network remains working properly and that all users on that network
are getting the necessary services that they require. · Those
services would include both secure (SIPR) and non-secure (NIPR) enclaves. · I am also
responsible for the installation of manhole and duct systems, and the
installation of the fiber optic backbone cabling within each manhole/duct
system. · I also
performed any fusion splicing, terminations, testing and any labeling
required to complete each job. · I spent the
first year of this contract at another base where the responsibilities were
the same, but I was also given the task of developing Visio drawings of all
the buildings on base, which were then turned over to the base planners and
placed onto large maps of the base showing all cable routes and IDF/MDF
locations. May 2012-JULY 2012 Windamir Development & Construction Structured Cabling Technician · As a
contractor for Windamir, my job responsibilities were to install the cabling
infrastructure associated with the re-modeling of three separate buildings
along Barnes Avenue on Fort Gordon,Ga. · The job
also required the installation of a 12 strand singlemode fiber optic cable
and a 100 pair copper feeder cable. I performed the fusion splice that was
needed in the manhole, where it was spliced to a 96 strand fiber optic cable.
· The 100
pair feeder was ran back to the communications hut and terminated to
protectors at both ends of the cable. Category 6 cabling was installed and
terminated in the buildings according to blueprint readings, and proper
structured cabling procedures were used to ensure a flawless network cabling
installation. · All cabling
and fiber optics were certified using test equipment that would allow the
downloading of these results. NOV 2011-MAY 2012 Copper River IT Service Technician · While
working on Fort Gordon, I had the opportunity to change jobs so that I would
be working directly under the supervision of the NEC (Network Enterprise
Center) as a service technician. · This job
was to support the NEC personnel in their day to day duties. Responsibilities
were to get the assigned work orders and gather the necessary supplies that
would be needed for each job. · As part of
providing outstanding customer support, new cable installations were common,
troubleshooting skills were used, and documentation of each job was critical.
· Maintaining
the vast communications network that the NEC provides to Fort Gordon is the
best way to sum up the requirements of this job, and I took great pride in
being a part of that team. MAR 2009- NOV 2011 Project XYZ Technician/Installer · As a
contractor on Fort Gordon, and working with the NEC (Network Enterprise
Center), my duties were to install network cabling to customer locations
throughout the base. · These were
mostly new installs that required extensive outside plant work prior to
entering the building, and inside plant cabling to provide service to the end
user. · Fiber optic
and copper cabling were installed through ducts and manholes, and when
required, splicing of these cables was performed. · There were
several times when a copper cable would get cut and the NEC would have me
repair these cables, some of these cables were up to 2400 pair count. · Splicing
these cables was a part of this job that I enjoyed the most, and I was known
by the NEC to be the one to go to when this task needed to be performed; I
have the patience and discipline needed to complete these splices with
minimal errors. OCT 2008-MAR 2009 ITT Systems Division Outside Plant Lead- Camp Adder-Tallil Air Base,
Iraq
· In October
of 2008, I was promoted to the position of Outside Plant Lead for COB
Adder/Tallil Air Base, Iraq. · My duties
were to provide communications to over 13,000 Soldiers and Civilians on the
base, through the design and installation of a fiber optic ring around the
base, which took over ten miles of cable to complete. · I also
managed three technicians, and provided daily and weekly reports to my
supervisors. · Along with
current projects at the time, we also handled work orders for service
interruptions, and new UTP installs. These work orders were submitted to our
help desk and then forwarded to Outside Plant based on the customers needs. NOV 2007-OCT 2008 ITT Systems Division Outside Plant Technician- Camp Adder-Tallil Air Base,
Iraq · Upon
completion of my Army duties in Iraq, I returned as an employee of ITT and
worked as an Outside Plant Technician. · My
responsibilities included installing and maintaining the communications ring
on Camp Adder. Installations varied depending on customers’ needs, to include
fiber optics up to 144 strands, copper cables up to 400 pairs and the
terminating of these cables at the MDF and customer location. · Also ran
NIPR (non-secure) and SIPR (secure) UTP/STP as needed. Distribution of the
desired cables, in some cases required splicing, to ensure proper continuity.
· For fiber
splicing I used the Fujikura and Sumitomo fusion splicers, and for copper I
used 3M 710 modules. All splices were secured in their proper splice cases. · The
customer was provided dial tone through our central telephone facility where
I was required to run the necessary cross connects for copper, and make fiber
jumpers for secure (SIPR) and non-secure (NIPR) circuits. APR 2006- AUG 2007 U.S. Army Reserves 324th Signal Battalion- Camp Adder-Tallil Air Base, Iraq · Responsible
for providing and maintaining the communications ring and all subscribers
within that ring. · Working
closely with the ITT Inside/Outside Plant Team, I was able to perform such
duties as the digging of trenches when required, pulling cables, to include
Fiber Optics, Cat5e, and multi-pair cables from 25 pairs up to 200 pairs. · Terminating,
testing, and splicing, was done to ensure continuity within each cable run. · When a
customer’s communications were not working properly and a work order had been
submitted, I was sent to troubleshoot, isolate, and fix the problem. · I was
chosen by ITT to handle the Fiber Optics missions, based on my proficiency
and effectiveness of working with this product. NOV 2003- APR 2006 Installation
Technician
AMAT Telecommunications
· Responsibilities
of this job were to install the cabling necessary to complete each job. · In some
cases Fiber Optics would be used but the majority of the cabling was done
using Cat3, Cat5e, and Coaxial. · Some of the
work was done in residential housing installing cable television and speaker
systems throughout the house. · Our large
contracts were to provide new cabling as well as upgrades to existing systems
at such locations as Wal Mart, Kmart, Eckerd Drugs, Rite-Aid, Sam’s Club,
Books-A-Million, Best Buy, and Regal Cinemas. NOV 1999- NOV 2003 Lead Tech/ Installation Manager Network Data Services · Responsibilities
included the wiring/cabling of various K-12 grade schools located in the
states of Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. · Our large
contract with each school district required us to complete each job in a
timely manner and to ensure that each network was properly installed. · Cat5e
wiring and Fiber Optics were used to complete each network. Saved test
results were given to each District Manager to sign off on at the end of
every installation. · This job
required the accurate reading of blueprints and in some instances, the making
of our own using the AutoCad and Visio design programs. · Site
surveys would be done by myself, and then all of the materials for each job
would be ordered, putting me directly responsible for the timely completion
of each job. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES *Certificate, Fiber Optic Association (FOA),
